New Books

August 17, 2011

I got a couple new brewing books this week that I am pretty excited about.  The first is Designing Great Beers: The Ultimate Guide to Brewing Classic Beer Styles by Ray Daniels.  I have used some of the info from this book to brew in the past, but it is great to actually have the book on hand finally.  It is the most comprehensive book for advanced brewing and recipe formulation that I have found.

The second book is Yeast: The Practical Guide to Beer Fermentation by Jamil Zainasheff and Chris White.   Yeast and fermentation is where all the magic happens in brewing.  I am no Chemist, so I am super excited to have a whole book dedicated to this mysterious science.  This is probably the biggest area where most brewers (myself included) could grow in our knowledge.  I have read a couple chapters so far it this book promises to be be both informative and very practical.  I can’t wait to read more.
